This help document will provide the step-by-step instructions to connect Pegasus Reports to your Square POS , a.k.a. app integration.  App integration essentially allows one app to work with another.

In this case, it allows your Square POS app to talk to our Pegasus Reports app so that we can produce and deliver meaningful analytics to your mobile device in real-time, as sales occur.  

The following connection information is required to connect and can be found within your Square POS account:  

  • Location ID
  • Access Token

The steps for obtaining this information and entering it into Pegasus Reports is outlined below.  Once the required information is entered into the app, a set of historical data will immediately start downloading to your device so that analytics based on historical sales are immediately available to view.

Accessing your Square Information

Log into your Square account:

  1. Select Settings located at the bottom left of the screen (under All Products)
  2. Select App Integration



    • A new page opens that defaults to show you "My Applications"
      • A new application should be created to represent Pegasus Reports to ensure that the connection between your POS and Pegasus Reports is unique to these two applications
      • Think of this like a private phone line that you can disconnect at any time
      • Setting up this application will also generate the location ID and access token required to connect
    • To create a new application:
      • Select



      • Select More and then Square Developer



      • Select  or Account and then Developer Dashboard



      • Select the plus sign icon  



      • Name your application (we recommend using the name of the app you are connecting to; e.g. Pegasus Reports)



      • Once you select Save, you'll see the application appear on your Dashboard under My Applications



  3. Select Open on the application you created, which will default to the application's credentials page where you can find the Access Token
    • Make sure you are on the Production tab (located at the top of the page)  



    •  Select Show to the right of the token in order to see the detail so that you can select all and copy to clipboard so you can paste it within Pegasus Reports



    • Next, select the more options icon  from the main menu and then Locations to access your Location ID
      • Select all and copy to clipboard so you can paste it within Pegasus Reports


Get Connected to Pegasus Reports

    Once you have accessed your Square connection credentials, you'll log into Pegasus reports to enter the information within:

    •  More Options
    •   Site
    • POS Integration

    From here:

    1. Select Square Pos from the POS Integration screen



    2. Enter the Location ID within the field to the right of Location ID
    3. Enter the Access Token within the field below Access Token



    4. Select Save

      Quick Tip:  Copy and paste saves you time!  For example, if you're using a laptop to access your Square account, you can copy the credentials from your account and send them in a mobile message to yourself so that you can quickly and easily paste them into Pegasus Reports.  

    Once these two pieces of connection information have been entered into Pegasus Reports, initial data will download and you will immediately be able to view your sales information within Pegasus Reports.
