Day Trend Report

The ability to view and analyze sales trends by day, allows an operator to gain valuable insights into how their business is doing based on historical information.  

Day Trend Report

The Day Trend report allows an operator to view trends by day or date, for the date range selected. 

Overtime, these trends allow an operator to:

  • Identify patterns that may help to anticipate a future ned:
    •  Store A , experiences a 60% increase in overall sales on Fridays and Saturdays between May and July, because a convention comes through town
    • Therefore, Store A may need to adjust inventory and labor needs in anticipation of higher sales during this time period next year
  • Identify outliers that may need to be addressed or further investigated:
    • Store B has typically seen an increase of about 10-20% in sales on Saturdays during the months of November and December each year, for the last 7 years 
    • In looking at the historical trend by day for this store, the owner notices that the expected increase on Saturdays for the last two years has only gone up about 5%
    • This alerts an owner to look back on what may have impacted sales at this time so that they can develop a strategy to boost sales in the upcoming months

Day vs. Date Comparisons

When viewing a daily sales total, you will have the option to compare that total to the prior year based on the same day or date for prior year.

For example:

  • Store A looks at a snapshot of the daily sales total for January 19, 2023 (Thursday) and wants to view the day trend report for this date
  • If the operator views the By Day trend, they are comparing this date against the same day of the prior years (January 20, 2022 - Thursday, January 21, 2021 - Thursday; etc.)
  • If the operator view the By Date trend, they are comparing this date to the exact same date of the prior years (January 19, 2022, January 19, 2021; etc.) 

Accessing the Day Trend Report

The Daily Trend report is accessible via the By Day report within the Reports section of the app, and can be filtered by day or date, to analyze the historical trend.  

To access the Day Trend report:

  1. Select the reports iconwithin the bottom navigation
  2. Select  By Day
  3. Along with daily sales, the report defaults to show historical comparisons for the selected date range
  4. Select a date to access additional details 


  5. Select Day Trend to view a historical sales trend by day or date

  6. Select the location icon  to select a different site to view
  7. Select the calendar icon  to change the date(s)
  8. Select the export icon   to export the report to a .csv file or to save it as a PDF

  9. Toggle between tabs beneath the chart to view trend By Day or By Date
